Kamika ekadashi fasting story
As per ancient legend, a wrestler lived in a village in ancient times. In nature, the wrestler was very angry. Due to nature, one day the wrestler got into a fight with a Brahmin. The anger of the wrestler became so strong that he killed the Brahmin. Pehelwan Brahm became a partaker of the sin of killing. Realizing his mistake, he tried to attend the cremation of the Brahmin to repent, but the pundits refused to attend. The pundits socially boycotted the wrestler, believing him to be guilty of killing Brahman. The Brahmins also flatly refused to eat at the wrestler's place.
Troubled by all things, the wrestler asked a sage how he could remove his sins. The sage sannyasi advised the wrestler to observe a fast on Kamika Ekadashi. At the behest of the sadhu, the wrestler followed the Kamika Ekadashi fast by law. That night the wrestler was sleeping near the idol of Lord Vishnu. Suddenly, Lord Vishnu showed up in his dreams. He freed the wrestler from the Brahmin murder defect. Since then, it has become a practice to celebrate Kamika Ekadashi.
